As part of a joint development project with the Zurich University of Applied Sciences(ZHAW) on the decarbonization of the construction industry and real estate loans, Timber Finance is currently investigating the needs and expectations of the mortgage market with regard to sustainable financial products with wood.
One focus of the feasibility study is to investigate the future viability and marketability of a timber mortgage – a sustainable financial product that offers financial incentives for building with wood, such as a reduced interest rate or a recognized CO2 certificate to offset your own carbon footprint.
The development team is calling on industry experts, decision-makers, credit specialists and interested parties to take part in the 5-minute online survey. The knowledge gained will help to design an innovative financial product that focuses on the CO2 storage and substitution performance of wood and meets the needs of the market.
The anonymous survey is open until January 19, 2023 and can be accessed here.
The results will be published by the end of March 2024 at the latest and can then be obtained from both Timber Finance and the ZHAW.
Timber Finance and the ZHAW are confident that this joint development project represents important pioneering work and will make a significant contribution to the understanding and promotion of sustainable timber construction.
The project is also open to other implementation partners and financial institutions. For further information please contact:
