Timber finance initiative
The Timber Finance Initiative - Association
How can the forestry and timber industry make a maximum contribution to Switzerland’s net zero targets? One way is to promote timber construction. Sustainably managed, certified forests are the easiest way to remove CO2 from the air. In order to store CO2 in the long term, the wood from the forest must be transferred to large modern buildings, where it not only stores CO2 but can also replace CO2-intensive concrete and steel.
The Timber Finance Initiative is organized as an association and has set itself the goal of promoting timber construction and the industry on four levels:
Through the development of sustainable impact financial products with a focus on forests and wood, the world’s first monetizable CO2 storage certificate for timber construction and with consulting services in the forestry and timber industry as well as the publication of white papers and research articles. In this way, it contributes to the decarbonization of the construction industry and investment portfolios and promotes sustainable forestry and forest management.
